Applying Lean Six Sigma to the Environment

EC 018: Lean Six Sigma and Sustainability Radio Interview

3 min read

Summary

On this podcast, I was interviewed by Luke Andersen for a radio show and podcast called Northwest Business, on 1080 The Fan, here in Portland. It is focused on bringing attention to local businesses in the Portland area. He wanted to know more about Lean, Six Sigma and Sustainability.

I haven’t really talked much about the people side of sustainability, or my work with Lean Portland and applying lean to nonprofits in the area, so hopefully you’ll find this topic pretty interesting.

Lean Portland ia a local group of Lean and Six Sigma professionals who volunteer with nonprofits. I’ll go into a little more detail in the podcast.

I’d also like to point out that I’ve just put out an online version of the 2-day class, it’s now available on the website at LeanSixSigmaEnvironment.org.

It’s not the full class yet, but eventually I’ll have all the content converted over. It’s the first couple hours of the class, so if you go to the website, and look for the link to the “Lean Six Sigma and the Environment” online course. It’s also under the Getting Started section in the upper right section. I just added that in there to help with navigation on the site. I also made some changes to the theme, and the look and feel of the site, basically to remove some clutter. A little 5s on the website.

I also have another short presentation that I made recently to a local sustainability symposium on basically the same topic on Lean Six Sigma and Sustainability. I’ll be posting that very soon as well.

Finally, I’ve got a short book I’m working on the last couple months, also related to this topic. A few of you have gotten a chance to look it over and provide feedback, and I really appreciate that. I hope to have it available for download by the end of the month.

Alright, so I hope you enjoy my interview with Luke on Northwest Business
