To help incorporate environmental issues into your lean activities, it is recommended to include your Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) personnel in the planning of lean events, during the event, at the daily outbriefs, and during the report outs.
They can help the teams identify ways to reduce environmental impacts, reduce permitting fees and issues, and make any process layout changes easier.
If they cannot attend the event activities, one alternative option is to provide this checklist to the teams.
If any of the checklist items results in a “Yes” or “Unknown”, then the team should definitely reach out to the EHS specialist or manager before they make any changes.
