10/2/15 – Implementing Sustainability Into Your Existing Lean and Six Sigma Program at the 2015 Annual IIE Engineering Lean & Six Sigma Conference – Atlanta, GA – Learn how Lean and Six Sigma programs will not automatically address environmental issues, but knowing these constraints can help properly align Lean and Green, so they work together for maximum impact to your organization. Includes some examples of Lean Six Sigma tools that have been modified to address environmental problems specifically.
1/20/15 – Lean and Six Sigma for Environmental Professionals – Online course taught through Northwest Environmental Training Center (NWETC) to introduce Lean and Six Sigma concepts to environmental professionals and organizations.
Course 1: Introduction to Process Improvement – This six-hour webinar will challenge your ideas about how processes should operate, and discuss why processes are often setup to fail. We will also cover popular problem solving techniques such as 8D, A3, and PDCA that provide a foundation for improvement, and cover an overview of both Lean (Toyota) and Six Sigma (Motorola and GE), and discuss how these techniques can be applied to city and state agencies, environmental consultants, and other groups involved in environmental and government work.
Course 2: Tools for Process Improvement – In these sessions, details about the most common process improvement tools and techniques will be reviewed. Specific techniques include: 5S, process mapping, kanban, standard work, the 5 Whys, fishbone diagrams, histograms, common vs. special cause variation, error proofing, control charts, measurement studies, and more.

Includes some examples of Lean Six Sigma tools that have been modified to address environmental problems specifically.
5/20/14-5/21/2014 – Lean and Green Panel speaker at Sustainable Manufacturer Conference – Naperville, IL – This conference and tabletop exhibit is dedicated to answering the question, “How do I make my manufacturing operation more sustainable?”. It will bring all the elements a manufacturer needs to know in order to adopt or enhance green practices together, in one location, at one time.
2/25/14 – Presentation on Using Lean and Six Sigma to Reduce Electricity at 2014 Lean and Six Sigma Conference – Phoenix, AZ. I will be presenting how lean “Go and See” treasure hunt events and a Six Sigma DMAIC project have resulted in electricity savings at a major aerospace company.
5/20/13 – Institute of Industrial Engineers (IIE) Annual Conference – San Juan, PR – Presented “Using Six Sigma to Reduce Energy with Limited Data” to help reduce electricity usage in your facility when you don’t have submetering or detailed electricity data. Download PDF and watch video below.
Also presented “Using Employees to Engage in Energy Reduction in their Workplace” to conduct energy treasure hunts to educate employees to identify wasted energy in their area. Download PDF and watch video below.
