In March 2009, the EPA published the document called “STATISTICAL ANALYSIS OF GROUNDWATER MONITORING DATA AT RCRA FACILITIES”<\/p>\n

\"OFFICE<\/a><\/p>\n

The document is meant to provide support to RCRA facilities on how to apply the correct statistical techniques. It is essentially a statistics reference guide focused on groundwater contamination data. However, it is a good statistical reference book in general, so it is highly recommended for anyone using statistics to analyze environmental and other non-normal data.<\/p>\n

Starting on Chapter 9 of the document, there are exercises and data tables, with instructions on how to create the charts or complete the analysis. If you already are using Minitab statistical software<\/a>, then you would probably like to know how Minitab does these tasks for you. What you need to do is copy the data into Minitab, and start clicking around.<\/p>\n

There are two issues with this document:<\/p>\n

  1. It is not written for use with any statistical software – Although that was the original intent, for those of you who have a statistical program you are familiar with, it takes some time to figure out how to recreate the same charts and analysis.<\/li>\n
  2. The data files are not available for download from the EPA website related to this document. If you wanted to import the data into your statistical program, it takes some effort to copy\/paste and re-format the data correctly, so it can be analyzed. We went through and did that for you, and provided it in Excel.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
