Lean Six Sigma for the Environmental Manager @ Red Lion Hotel on the River - Jantzen Beach
Dec 8 @ 8:30 am – 4:30 pm

Lean and Six Sigma are proven techniques for process improvement that many companies and organizations have used for decades. Learn how the same approach can be applied to make them more environmentally sustainable – by reducing water usage and pollution, air emissions, solid waste and landfill charges, hazardous waste, and energy usage. Case studies will be used to illustrate how companies have used these techniques and modes of thinking to engage employees, identify “low-hanging fruit” opportunities, save money, and reduce the risk of fines and penalties.

Tools and concepts that will be discussed include: The advantage of Lean Six Sigma; Triple Bottom Line; 5 Lean Principles; Waste Pyramid 8 forms of process and environmental waste; Change Management; Value Stream Mapping (VSM); Kaizen events; Gemba walks; Supplier-Inputs-Process-Outputs-Customers (SIPOC); 5S; Kanban; Visual Controls; Safety, Quality, Delivery, Customer (SQDC); Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA); Statistical Process Control (SPC); Regression analysis.

Attendees will leave the training course with at least 3 different process improvement tools or techniques they will want to try out in their company or with their clients to reduce their environmental impact. The techniques can also be used to make your office work more efficient, so you can spend more time with your clients, or handle more workload.

This course is appropriate for two audiences: (1) internal Environment, Health & Safety engineers and managers within companies, and (2) external environmental consultants who work with businesses on reducing their environmental impact on water, air emissions, solid waste, hazardous waste, and energy.
